Getting started · Step 3 of 3

Your first scan

All 24 signals run on every scan. The ranker picks the three-to-five moves that will make the biggest difference this week.

Start a scan

Pick the Xero organisation you just connected and pick a scan window (the last six months by default). Click Run scan.

The first scan pulls a fresh copy of your invoices, payments, contacts, bills, credit notes, quotes, bank transactions and payroll data from Xero. That fetch usually takes 20–60 seconds depending on how much history you have. Subsequent scans of the same window are much faster because the pull is cached.

What actually runs

All 24 deterministic signals fire against the same immutable snapshot. Each signal computes:

  • A metric or set of metrics (e.g. days sales outstanding, top-client share, trough month).
  • A £ impact estimate for its top finding.
  • A priority (low / mid / hero) based on how confident the deterministic maths is.

The engine then ranks by priority × £ impact and picks the top few for Actions This Week. Everything else is still available — you can open every signal from the sidebar and see the underlying finding.

Deterministic maths, AI writes the words.

Every number on your dashboard is computed by unit-tested TypeScript. The AI is only ever asked to draft the wording of the suggested action — never to compute a figure. That is why every insight ships with the numbers shown inline and why an audit trail is easy to build.

Reading the Actions This Week card

Each ranked insight has four elements:

  1. The finding. Plain English — "Brightwave Agency is 45 days late on £14,200 across 3 invoices."
  2. The reasoning. A short "why this matters" — the deterministic signal and the £ tied to it.
  3. The drafted action. A ready-to-send email, price note, or checklist — edited-in-place. Nothing writes back to Xero without you clicking Approve.
  4. The impact estimate. The £ Compass thinks is at stake — always a proxy, never a promise.

Overview + Segments dashboards

Below Actions This Week sit two dashboards:

  • Overview — the business-level widgets: cash flow forecast, concentration risk, sector momentum, cohort retention, revenue sources and so on. Full list at /uk/docs/widgets.
  • Segments — the client-centric widgets: keep/grow/renegotiate/review, client pillars, tenure mix, size distribution and the ideal-customer-profile card.

Widgets are drag-and-drop; hover a widget's kebab menu for Export CSV or Save PNG.

Credits vs Compass Pro

Your first scan costs one credit (£2.99 on PAYG) or is unlimited if you're on Compass Pro (£19.99/mo per organisation). Failed scans do not consume credits. Cached scans stay viewable free forever, even if you cancel.

See /uk/docs/billing for the full billing story.
